Recently I've been looking for a new phone that has internet capabilities. Does anyone know about these things and what I be looking for? I've considered getting a Treo 700w with Verizon's EVDO broadband service, but I'd also like to look at the other options available. I just want it to be portable enough to fit into my pocket and have full internet capabilities.

Anyone have recommendations?

That pda edwood posted isn't at all bulky. It's pretty darn small. I have the imate jam (a relative.. very similar except less bulky because it doesn't have the keyboard).

How small? Smaller than an ipod mini? Smaller than a treo, that's for sure.

The one above is a bit more bulky, closer to treo size.

I'd go with one of the HTC devices (like what Edwood has) for internet on the phone.

blackberry is still smaller...but yes the HTC (of course) are good products, not denying that there, but i mean it's a bit "much" if all you're going to do is use internet imo and if that's all you want is phone capabilities and full internet i'd look in the smartphone area and forget the pda's/ppc's

I'm all about my 2125. Its tiny, gives me my daily dose of windows mobile 5, and fits in my jeans pockets to boot. Edge data speeds are also nice too (evdo isn't here yet) I transfer about 60-75 mb a month of internet traffic and I don't feel like I need a keyboard or a larger screen. Overall its the best phone I've ever played with/had and I got a corp discount so i only payed $100 for it. Its currently $200 on cingular.com

Overall I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Are you limited to CDMA carriers; or is GSM a possibility. Do you want a full sized ppc phone or do you want something that will fit in your pocket. I switched from verizon because of their lack of smartphones ... and haven't looked back.

IMHO, the right-now good PDAphones are the O2 series, whether it be the XDA, XDAII, etc... they make awesome phones.

Treo's are 'meh', in my opinion. Not too terribly impressed by my dad's 650.
