Frustrated - Broken Sennheiser HD800s

The HD800's cable is nightmare to unplug from the headphone's ports. It took me awhile to get used removing it with my sweaty hands. But I found a way to easily remove it by holding the headphone with the jack-port side is downward. And I use a dry cloth for a better grip.

That is a ridiculous thing for Sennheiser to claim. The overly tight tolerance for the strength of the jack support is a known flaw, and I believe they have acknowledged previously that one or more batches had insufficient support around the jack that caused this.

Many people, including well known reviewers, have damaged their unit either by pulling the jack straight out, or scratching the headphone as the jack suddenly jerks out.

To claim you mishandled your headphones in that way is frankly insulting! Had you swapped the cable out on day one, I bet that jack would have ripped straight out.

I just sent mine in last week and haven’t heard anything. The sockets on both sides ripped out while trying to change to the balanced cable. The cable is an ABSOLUTE nightmare. They need to recall them. It should not be this difficult

It’s a major flaw, it’s so tight, I thought the cable was soldered to the socket. Even after it ripped out, I still could get the cable to release. Absolutely ridiculous

The fact that you had to, “figure it out” and use a dry cloth, is a straight flaw on Sennheiser’s part

Well nothing is really worth what the MSRP is in terms of pure value for the item.
Included in the MSRP is profits necessary to develop other models, costs of the development for that model, general profits and the psychology aspect of higher price = better.
To give you an example, there was a pair of beyer t1 sold from a dealer as a refurb or something for $600 when the MSRP is $1300.
There seems to be quite a few lemons
