After a long search, I still can't find the Foobar MP3 encoder plugin for Foobar 0.8.3. If anyone can shoot me a copy, please let me know!! Thanks in advance.

I've tried searching for it myself and I can't find it either. (and it's not in the case version of 0.8.3 in which most encoders are included)

Aside from that. Why would you want that plug-in if you can use an external encoder?

What plug-in? Just stick lame.exe somewhere, make sure Tools -> Converter knows about it, and you're in business.

It's just that when I'm playing songs from Foobar playlist, I want to just select the songs right on the playlist and right click "convert" and have the MP3 versions to straight to the DAP. If I have to use an external encoder, I have to search for the folder containing the songs in question, open it up, point the conversion to DAP, etc.

BTW. What do you mean by "Tools" and "converter." I don't see such menu in Foobar..

I've never had to do that. I just select the songs from the playlist, and go through the convert prompts. Foobar uses external encoders through its CLI (command line interface).

Open preferences (CTRL + P), there is a Tools sub-menu that contains the Converter's properties.

I'm using Foobar 0.8.3, and that Tools sub-menu and MP3 encoder is only included for Foobar 0.9.x

I still use 0.8.3 b/c there are numerous plugins that are not available yet for 0.9.x, including winamp2foobar bridge plugin, resamplers other than PPHS, etc...

It's also rumored that 0.8.3/ASIO sounds better than 0.9.x/ASIO, but that one I'll have to do some careful comparisons first before deciding

Foobar2000 0.9x is so much more capable and easier to use compared to the 0.8x version. The mp3 and other convertors also comes with the default installation known as Converter. You only need to download the LAME encoder.

For the plugins you are looking for, you might find them here.

The last one is especially useful if you want to run VST plugins in foobar2k. Free VST plugins include parametric EQs, tube simulators etc.
