Picked up my Utopias today and very impressed. I have for years been enjoying the HD800 through the HDVD800 amp (not using the HDVD800 DAC which is not noteworthy, but rather a Hugo2). I must say I thought the HD800 would be hard to beat but... this is head fi... and beat the Utopia did! Value the HD800 provide is exceptional though so no negatives at all having loved them for so long.
The first question I asked myself is would a balanced cable make a substantive difference to the Utopia? To my ears it did for the HD800. An improvement in clarity/refinement for me that was worth the cable price.
Can anyone provide an insight?
