DOH! Thanks blessingx. Should learn to read the posts a bit more carefully. I've noticed a good bit of static when in the car using the Belkin so I also would be interested in how it works out for you audiomortis.
The trick to using an FM transmitter in LA is to lower your antenna. The transmitter is so close, it can broadcast into the wiring in the car so it doesn't need the antenna to be extended. Lowering it reduces the competion.
I have owned the iRock, iTrip and PodFreq, and hands down the PodFreq is the only one that I can use on a day to day basis. It sounds MUCH better, the reception is clearer and it's a million times easier to change the frequency while driving. The iRock was constantly getting turned on by accident in my bag and running out of batteries. It needed careful alignment to connect strongly. The iTrip had ok signal strength, but it was hissy and changing stations on the road was impossible.

I hooked it up for about five seconds and found it to be a worthless piece of crap. it may still be on the floor of the rental car.

if you still do have it, i'd buy it from you to see if it worked here
