sweetben ... just saw your question, and while I have not heard the GS1000's with the GCHA, I have spent a bit of time with Grado HP2's and the GCHA, as I own both.
It is one of my favorite combinations, and I would definitely say that they are "synergistic". The GCHA delivers all the clean, fast power (current, in the case of the HP2's) needed, and the result is a beautiful listening experience. The equipment fades away, and the music takes over - at least for me.
