Hi there,

I have a set of Flare Audio, Flares Jet 3. I've had to send them back twice to have the headphone plug replaced. They're still in warranty, but I've decided to replace the plug myself as I've had better results using plugs of my choice. I've done this with Dunu and MEE Audio before, but I'm having problems with these as I can't seem to get the configuration right.

The plug is TRRS with wire colours: Red, Blue, Green and Gold.

I'm assuming CTIA.

This config was wrong:
  • Green = Tip (Left)
  • Gold = Ring 1 (Right)
  • Blue = Ring 2 (Common)
  • Red = Sleeve (Mic)
I've tried several variations following guides but none have worked.

Anyone have an idea what the correct config should be?

Cheers, Chris.

Hi!
I have same problem earlier. Flare Jet 3 is one of the greatest in ear units I ever owned. Biggest minus is cord and plug. Hope they change it. If you wish to switch another type of plug you have to erase insulation varnish of each those 4 cords before soldering. Sometimes warming ain't enough. Acetone liquid (nail polisher) is one you must try. To make sure you can measure resistance of common to (red) tip and common (green) ring1. It should be under 50 ohms.

- tip= red (L)
- ring1= green (R)
- ring2= copper (common)
chassis= blue (mic)
