What Compression level do you FLAC users use for your music?
From 0 to 8, where do you keep your default compression level?
Does it make a difference in audio quality and/or memory?
Thank You, A1811.

good question.

Of course the quality will not change, because lossless = losless.

The higher you go, the slower the encoding will be. That is the only disadvantage. Decoding of 8 will be just as fast as 0.
(In contrast to say ape, where highest compression ratio, will need lots of power to decode as well).

I'd say start with 8. If you think it's too slow go down to 6 or 5 (or buy a new cpu :p).

I use level 6 on all my rips.

Level 8 is a no-brainer, IMO. The time required to encode is only a small fraction of the time required to rip the initial WAV file, so it's not going to make the ripping process as a whole noticeably longer.

My default setting is Level = 4 for all rips.

I always just left it at 5.  I once played around with different compression settings, but I never felt the difference in file size was really worth getting worked up over.  Of course, I don't really care because I have 2 TB of space to store my rips.  Long story short, I just leave it at 5.
