I just got this gear to run hi-res lossless streams from Apple Music through my iPhone and 4.4mm balanced output from my FiiO Q3 (2nd version MQA). I’ve experimented with different dip switch configurations and ear tips, but I’ve not yet found a totally satisfying sound. My main complaint is a crowded overdriven sound of the mids especially if there are multiple layered female vocals in the song (e.g. Oblivion by M83). There are also strange artifacts that I’m picking up like an overly forward and crackly sounding clap trap in Beat It as compared to listening with my AirPods Pro 2.
I’m still in the honeymoon phase (<50 hrs. listening time) with them, but so far they don’t perform as well as I was expecting. Hardly consistent with all of the glowing reviews I read. These were deeply discounted by FiiO during the 11.11 AliExpress sale, so now I’m wondering if there is a known issue with later production stock that they want to unload or perhaps they’re just making room for another newer version. It seems the conversations about these just stopped in late 2021.
