Don't get me wrong guys, I love firefox and its lots of 3rd party extension. However, I found firefox's speed is lagging compared to Safari in Mac system or Chrome in Windows. Lately I used safari and chrome more often than I used Firefox. Why can't firefox keep up with safari or chrome's speed in rendering webpage? So what do you think guys?

Edit: The one thing I hate about Safari is their lack of 'new tab' dedicated button.

I can't tell the difference between Firefox and Safari on my Mac speedwise. I prefer Firefox for a rather dumb reason... I can click my mouse on bookmark folders in my toolbar and they will open up (which works in Safari), but then I can also drag it over to the side and it will open up the next one. Instead of deselecting the current bookmark folder and then clicking on the next.

I've never used "new tab" button though, I always use command+t. Safari really looks a lot better though.

^You can always use a different skin for Firefox, then you might like its looks more than Safari.

Which OS? I find FF loads a lot quicker on Vista compared to XP for some reason. Probably superfetch on Vista is why. After it has loaded once I find the speed comparable though. But in general FF is not very fast compared to IE, Chrome and Opera. If it wasn't for noscript plugin for FF I would probably use Opera as that had the least amount of security breaches last year and is quite fast.

^ I use xp pro on my windows machine, Chrome is a lot faster. The 3rd party addons are the one keeping me using firefox. I wish chrome and safari got adblock, morning cafe, the 2 add on that I find irreplaceable in firefox.

I'm using a different skin (Aero Silver Fox Basic), but let's not kid ourselves, Safari's looks integrate itself so much better with OS X.

A lot of the 'lag' you're probably seeing is that built into your OS (windows for example, likes to add delays). Firefox3 boasts some of the fastest refresh times etc... i think it actually might be the fastest. Although, firefoxes glory days are definitely over and if you ask me ff3 is a step backwards...
and as for it looking integrated..

i prefer it to stand out just a little

.....what?

FF3 is decidedly slow, high in memory use, and unstable for me. I'd use IE8 fulltime if it had a decent adblocker.

windows has added delays to menus to stop it from "seeming clumsy" (you can remove 99% of them with the registry). I only used ff3 for a little while (at release) and then found it to be way too unstable so i reinstalled ff2.
edit: i should say that in 75% (probably more) of cases firefox will use the windows scheme standard window frame so it is not exempt from said delays.
I think its a bit funny that you bam ff3 for being slow and high in memory use when you want IE8 with an adblocker (but then again, I am of the ilk that considers an adblocker bloat and unecessary). IMO the speed was not bad... it was just soooo unstable

I've never noticed any sort of difference between safari and firefox. I guess I could use safari but I love the shortcuts and layout of firefox so much more.

There is a version of Noscript for Opera - atleast that's what they claim. Try it out - I don't use FF, so I don't know if its like Noscript or not.

Hope it helps.
