Try to search smth related to power saving features. I guess it can cut power off when noticed that smth power demanding connected.
Overall this is not Fiio's issue.

I have done all the KA17 testing in a Xiaomi phone and tablet (Note 12 Pro+ and Pad 6) both running Hyper OS, without a single issue.

After reading (thanks to you) @Ichos , @isayfu I tried to fix the problem with my Redmi Pad SE tablet and it's still the same, crash after a few tenths of a second of reading.
You gave me the idea to use my POCO M5 with Xiaomi HyperOS, too, and everything works perfectly with the KA17.
Long hours of research await me....

Unfortunately It is the Android system and it's various implementations that don't guarantee stable performance across all phones.

@FiiO , And the drivers are only for Windows, so setting up custom presets on a Mac OS and loading them onto the device will not work, right?

Is it possible to download created presets from a Mac to KA17?

Not sure anyone has noticed this flaw or this is just a bug on my unit but on the latest firmware (v2)--when EQ is turned ON, the device appears to be locked into low gain AND desktop mode off.

You can reproduce/test this by first setting the EQ to "off", playing some music, then toggling the low/high gain setting and/or the hardware desktop mode switch. Both toggles result in a real-time changes in the volume. This is intended behavior.

However, once you turn the EQ on (IE: USER1), the volume drops dramatically right off a the bat and the gain and desktop mode toggles don't do anything to affect the volume anymore. I believe that gain is locked to low AND desktop mode is locked to off when this happens.

EDIT: I was able to resolve the issue by setting the "Global Gain" on all three of the user presets back to 3.

A cheap cable should work fine, the KA17 needs max. 600mA of current.

Fiio control app version 3.23 is out via multiple sources.

Here is info on the update:

2. Added support for PEQ sharing. Currently supported devices: JA11, KA17, K19, BTR15, and more devices will be supported through future updates. In the upper left corner of the EQ setting, select the preset EQ to use PEQ sharing. Downloading EQ does not require login, but sharing personal EQs requires registration of a FiiO account.
