Hi everyone!
So I just bought an SPL Phonitor 2 and I have the option of using the balanced outputs at the back (male dual 3-pin XLR) to power my headphones (Sennheiser HD800S, male 4-pin XLR), with a supposedly improved sound from what I read. I therefore need a 4-pin XLR to dual 3-pin XLR cable/adapter. Since I'm in Canada, the options for this type of cable/adapter seem very scarce and/or expensive. This then brought me to consider doing it myself. I read on the schematics involved (only using pins 2 and 3 on the 3-pin side and connecting them to their respective pin on the 4-pin side). My question is about the cable to use to build this cable/adapter. Do I need a shield to connect to the connector shell or I can use any cable (speaker or interconnect) to build it without worrying about the shield/ground?
