Hi guys awhile back I accidentally tore the plug off of my Sony MDR-7506 and puppyslugg offered to fix it for me, but I just stuck it in my drawer and forgot about it. (Thanks pup!) I just shelved it until I recently wanted to listen to them again. I took them to the Sony store and got the whole cord replaced and earpads replaced as well. They charged me a flat repair fee of $61. Most repairs fall under that flar repair fee. Was that a fair price?

I thought the phones were about 100.00 for a new pr? Is that how much? It's really to late to wonder about the price now isn't it? Just take them home and enjoy them.

I only paid about $80 on closeout at B&H photo when they just opened. Im just asking because if I had any DIY skills I could have resoldered a new plug for under $10 and lived with the ratty pads. Considering a new set of Senn PX-200 are about $50 Im wondering whether it would have been better to chuck out the Sony's. Hmmm thats all.

If they even mention me the charge of 61.00 (or even 25.00), for that, I would replace the cord myself with some canare starquad, and a neutrik connector, or any other cord I may get, the new ones goes for about 69.99, so 61.00 for a repair or a 69.99 headphone is a rip off, IMO....
FYI and to give you an idea I sold a brand new MDR-V700DJ cord, very similar to the V6 even the same screw on plug, just that the cover is plastic insted of metal, for 15, not too long ago around here, and to solder it is about 5 minutes job....
