Hey guys,
I have a pair of HF5s that I bought almost three years ago (so out of warranty).
About a week ago the right earbud started crackling and then went silent entirely. I didn't have time to look at it then but did some research and didn't find people with the exact same issue.
Yesterday, the sound had returned but after about 10 minutes crackled and went away again. After some fiddling, I found that twisting the cord and squeezing it in certain ways, especially around where the left and right earbud cords join, brought back sound to the right earbud.
I have spoken with Etymotic support and they say that there is no repair on the HF5s. Is there some way I can fix this without getting a replacement unit? Having to hold and twist the cord constantly just to get stereo sound is pretty painful.
