Do you mean the chips themselves? I would have to think that the implementation around the chip is such a huge factor that the choice of chips may be less important in some ways. So if you are trying to compare DAC’s, focus on the complete implementation and not just what chip they are using. Just my $0.02...

I agree with the above poster, you can have the best dac chip, but terrible components attached to it causing it to not perform as it should, thus making it essentially bottleneck or become useless.

Or have a somewhat ok dac chip with great supporting parts, perform as best as it possibly can, yielding better sound.
