emu 0404 usb help

Hey everyone. Im a long time reader first time poster. anyways, i plan on buying a used emu 0404 usb. I gonna go check it out soon in person and was wondering if you guys could help me to let me know what exactly i should check to look for to make sure its in good working order. I dont wanna miss something only to find that it doesnt work a week later. Thanks guys

Make sure all the knobs are fixed firm and dont wiggle. Scratches on the surface are fine unless you are very particular about appearance. Give all the inputs and outputs a try if you can.

They are fairly sturdy devices and internals dont get messed up so much. The biggest point of failure based on what I have seen are the knobs. Which can get loose. They should have a nice firm feel to them when you turn them.

thanks for a speedy reply. just got back from checking it out and the knobs flet very loose. Also i am not one to usually complaing about small blemishes, but this looked as though it was handled roughly. needless to say i didnt buy it. Thanks a lot though, im really looking forward to getting my hands on one.

The 0404 USB has so many features that it would take quite a while to test the complete functionality. If your goal is playback, ask to hear a demonstration if it's possible.
