Based on the famous electrostatic headphone thread (https://www.head-fi.org/threads/my-diy-electrostatic-headphones.498292) me and a friend built our own pair of headphones and a step-up transformer. Since it took a long time to go through this thread and as we learned a lot during the building of these headphones we wrote a guide to make life easier for you.

You can find our very first version here: https://github.com/Azrael3000/headphone-guide or read the pdf directly: https://github.com/Azrael3000/headphone-guide/raw/master/guide.pdf

Now since we made it for you we would love to get feedback from you as well. To not clutter the original thread even more please use this thread to give us feedback on the guide and we will be happy to include it. Alternatively, if you know your way around Github you can also leave us feedback and/or pull requests there.

Cheers,
Arno

Huge thanks for this great guide and for posting it on github.

I was wondering if there are any updates coming to the guide in the near future and if there are any new things you learned/tried after that first version, since you mentioned a couple of things worth doing differently in the document?

Hi,
we currently dismantled the headphones as we want to try another way of tensioning the diaphragm (with the inner tube method). I had a busy year so far with another project taking away time from this one. But I will certainly update the guide once we have done that. Regarding the next version, I estimate that we get started early next year and again I will update the guide. However, I am also looking for input from the community. If you have anything to add or share, feel free to post it in this thread or on github and I'm happy to include it. After all, Wachara started his original thread in order to get others into diy-headphone building and decided to share his knowledge and our guide was created with the same sharing spirit in mind.
Cheers,
Arno
