The former front for New Bohemians restarts her intermittent career with this latest effort.
The songs are a bit too much warmed over alt country. Edie Brickell has clearly been sitting on the back porch of her Martha's Vineyard home drinking wine and watching the kids play, and has been coaxed into the studio to write an album's worth of songs about how nice it is to sit on the back porch of her Martha's Vineyard home drinking wine and watching the kids play.
I don't expect her to be young pissed off anymore (clearly religion is no longer the smile on a dog to her), but if she's this self-satisfied, why make a bland lifeless record about it?
Unless you are a giant Edie Brickell fan, this one is best avoided.
