I recently ordered a small headphone amp from and E-bay seller. I'm just wondering if I made a huge mistake.... The seller is in Japan and offers had built amps. Portable mini headphone amplifier,LM6171,fits ipod,Zune - eBay (item 270266635227 end time Dec-15-08 22:06:34 PST)

Can't really go wrong with CMOY as long as your expectations are not too high. For a beginner amp you could have done worse. Although everyone builds these somewhat differently, so heres to hoping they know what they are doing.

my hope is this amp will provide a similar sound to the Denon I use at home. Even if it doesn't I hope it at least doesn't suck like I've heard some of the "box store" amps do.

I don't know about the Denon, but many home amps are not known for having great headphone out jacks (some are just using the speaker level outputs fed into a resistive load). They don't show the actual board on that ebay amp - so it's hard to know how it's really made - please make sure you come back here after you get it and tell us how it works withe your DAP & 'phones!

The amp arrived today I hooked it to my iPod and my room mate's AKG K240's. The sound was punchy but not muddy mids are crisp highs and clear and smooth. I would say the $45 I spent was worth it.

I'm thinking about getting a CMOY, but I really want to build my own. I just want to improve my 530's bass.
