I decided to pick one of these up on a whim the other night at Walmart brand new in the package for $9.97. No line out, no ac adaptor included, no shock protection, no bass boost, 16 hour battery life on 4 (yes, 4) AA batteries. Sort of a "Purple Rain" purple, very funky looking, and on the large side.

This thing drives the crap out of my headphones! Very loud headphone out-- about twice that of my SL-CT570. Definitely old school pcdp volume. The 4.5V ac adaptor needs a rather large barrel adaptor (my Sony stuff is much too small to fit), but shouldn't be hard to find at Rat Shack for around $10-15 (bringing the total price to around $25). This seems to be a great bedside player, and a good match for my 7506's and KSC-75's without any need for an amp.

Anyway, if you've got $10 burning a hole in your pocket and there's no new cd's out, I advise picking one up the next time you find yourself in a Walmart.

That player made a stir about two years ago when it came out first. Look for the Lenoxx CD-50 (I had one). Durabrand and Lenoxx are the same company. By the way, their players are OEM's made in China, so they tend to appear under different names all over the world. And yep, it sounds way better than most players, even the most expensive ones.
