Looking to ditch my gaming headset and move on to something better and get a separate mic. My current headset is the PC 38X but I was not overly impressed. They lack bass and the left cup starts to pop when driving it with an external source. Prior to that I had the GSP 500's which had nice bass but the mids and highs do not match that of the PC 38X. I play Battlefield a lot and appreciate some bass for explosions etc. Can anyone vouch for the 1990 Pros? I hear they have a good amount of bass but not overpowering enough to sacrifice the mids and highs?

What DAC/AMP are you using? At the moment I have the internal AE-7. Gonna see how they pair and maybe upgrade if I need to.
I use a rme adi 2 dac fs. It does a great job but it is expensive

I cant say much about the ae7 it seems fine for the price. but you will actually do better without all the 7.1surround stuff and just crossfeed with apo eq

Is the ae7 the external source that pops with the gsp ?

I don't use 7.1 or any special effects. I was only using a bit of EQ to bring the bass out on my previous headsets. Yes, it was this card that made the PC 38X pop.

Thats not a good sign if it pops. If you want to upgrade your source how much do you want to spent?
