Did a search and couldn't find anything on this topic. As a general rule - assuming both fit equally well - what is the difference in SQ, isolation, comfort etc between double flange and single flange ear peices. I guess a follow on question is I may be (not 100% sure yet, still testing) in a situation where a double flange may work better in my left ear and a singe flange in my right. At first glance - I notice a significant difference between the distance between the end of the sound tube and the end of the ear peice - double flange is much longer. How would this impact SQ? Just looking for generalities but the IEM's I'm messing with are RE0's. Thanks for any help - it is appreciated. Paul

In my experience with some IEMs, the longer the tip the better the sound. I suggest trying the small (or large if you have massive ear canals) RE0 bi-flange for both if possible, that's the one I found to sound the best.
Generally, it's up to you to decide what you prefer, but I know with the RE0 there was a fairly large difference between the stock single flanges and the bi-flange.

For some IEMs, using double flange (longer tips, deeper insertion) tends to tame down the high (reducing sibilance for some cases), and bring out bass. However there are too IEMs which sound better with a shallower fit. So if you put on a longer tips on them and insert deep into your ears, overall sound can become muddy.

In my opinion, single flange or double flange, shallow fit or deep insertion, good seal or poor seal, all these really depends on what IEMs you are using, your ear shape, and your music preference.

I liked the RE0s with a looser fit. With the small single flange.
Started feeling like plugs otherwise.
