Just curious. I have one and hardly use it because it's a pain to always put music on it. Bought an MD and I'm very happy with it.

I have 2 other friends who've had flash players and neither uses the player much for the same reason - i.e. Pain in the butt to put music on it.

If you use a flash player, how do you find the sound quality? I have both a Nomad II and Sony MZ-N707 and I find the sound quality of the 707 to be significantly better than the Nomad.

I used to use MD but switched over to flash based MP3 player (Panasonic SD-SV80).

Basically, I didn't like the realtime conversion of songs to MD. I know they have USB and NetMD and stuff now but still. I got comprable battery life and smaller size which are the only things I like in a portable. I don't prioritize sound quality on the road because it's far from an ideal listening environment but I was actually surprised that my MP3 player was sounding pretty good.

I don't mind transfering files over to the MP3 player because I go on listening binges where I listen to the same stuff critically over and over.

Don't the Panasonic players take a long time to transfer music due to the encryption?

My friend says it takes about 1/2 hour to transfer about an hour of music on his Panasonic. That would be slightly slower than NetMD in my experience.

I use the iFP player from iRiver. It takes 5 min. to transfer 128MB.
At the moment I have 15 playlists of each 128Mb on 3 CDR's.
Just put a CDR in the CD ROM player. Plug in the iFP. And transfer one of the playlist from the CDR to the iFP with the iRiver software.
