I've seen lessloss mentioned fleetingly on head-fi but reading the website makes me extremely interested in this DAC + CDP setup because of it's almost non-existent jitter. Can anyone comment on this product from personal experience?

I was also interested in a Lessloss DAC for use with both a computer and a CD transport.

The email I received in response to my inquiry was unsatisfactory. For a direct-sale, Internet-based business, I would've expected a better response. What I got was a canned reply repeating info on the website that did not address my specific issues.

Here http://www.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.pl?...07682&review=1 you can read about my personal experience with the Lessloss DAC2004. This was my experience shortly after I bought the DAC2004 (now more than a year ago).
I don't know what your questions are, maybe it would be easier if you post here some questions / concerns you have, hopefully I can answer them.

@akwok: when I came across the computer audio infos on the Lessloss website I felt that there are really some hard-to-believe "facts" mentioned. But on the other hand, their points regarding computer audio cannot change my impression of the qualtity of the DAC2004 (I still do not regret that I replaced my Wadia 830 with their DAC2004+CDP combo)..

@Elephas: Now this sounds quite surprising to me. When I was in contact with Lessloss I got always outstanding feedback and support, they left no question unanswered. Maybe you can post here which issues were not addressed, maybe I can help you with my personal experience.

I'm using the LessLoss DAC for over 2 years now.
For the transport I'm not using their modified Rega player but instead making use of the Sonic Frontiers SFT-1.
The connection (data and clockcable) are both from LessLoss.
The DAC still surprises me with its sound.
Especially the frequency extremes are first class.
Sound signature is on the neutral side.
If you have any questions Liudas from LessLoss audio is very willing to inform you, If you are not satisfied with the answer you can always ask him for more information.
The LessLoss DAC is only sold through the company this could be a problem
on the other hand I have seen huge profits when a product goes through the usual way of importers and retailers. The LessLoss DAC is a very strong contender with a very good quality/price ratio.
Highly recommended!

Both first posters, both posted today. Did someone send you both to reply to this thread?

I'm a customer of Lessloss, no other relation to them. I'm using the DAC2004 now for more than a year and I find it still a very good product.

And I agree with you: when I first read what they posted on their website regarding the USB and computer setup my fitst thought was more like

But there's nothing wrong with the DAC2004, a very fine DAC which I can really recommend.

I have received a link from LessLoss, so you're partly right about that.
Partly because LessLoss didn't ask me to reply.
I also can asure you I'm not a stockholder from the LessLoss company or have any financially advantage.
I just like their DAC so much

That's the reason I also wrote 2 opinions at
audioasylum.com and audioreview.com

Thanks, but I'm no longer in the market for a DAC.

Others might be interested in more info, though. Some comparisons to other gear would also be appreciated.

There is no word clock output.
The LessLoss DAC clock's the cd transport.
So I have removed the clock from the SFT-1 cd transport (16.9344 MHz ) and placed a clockcable to the LessLoss DAC.
Word clock is inferior to the superclock (less jitter) of LessLoss, but suites when it is used with a computer soundcart.

he can output BOTH wordclock and superclock for $100 more. Because the new transporter only has a word clock output, I told him to do that. However, just in case some new transports have superclock output i got both clock frequencies to be on the safe side.

Holy snakeoil!
Their list of "probable reasons" for audible improvements makes me cringe!

This being the best one:
"Playing the file from a deeply embedded folder instead of from top of directory:
Audible.
Seems to have same effect when file path name is maximum length, regardless of directory structure. Probable reason -- buffering issue, since the music playback software takes considerably longer to load the data prior to playback in these cases."
