Do you think another DAC would be worth it?

I just re-bought a MicroDAC. I have a Total Bithead now, which is the only (headphone) amp I currently have. I plan to run them both off USB.

Now, when I get the microdac, do you think it will be worth going USB->MicroDAC->Mini-mini->Total Bithead-> headphones, or should I just go USB->Total Bithead->headphones? I run HF-1s right now.

There's no point plugging both of them into USB ports. The MicroDAC is a USB DAC. The Total BitHead is a USB DAC and a headphone amplifier. The way you detailed is the only way to use both items at the same time.

IMO, the DAC in total bithead is sufficient for the amp part, and microdac is an overkill. In another word, the headamp part of total bithead can not show the difference between microdac and the internal dac. I would like to suggest you either to sell microdac and use total bithead only, or sell total bithead and get a microamp.

Well I didn't buy it to improve my headphone listening. The microDAC is going to be for my speaker setup. I suppose I could well sell the Bithead at this point and get a nice more powerful amp, but the Bithead is just too damn handy, and I think it sounds fine with the easy to drive headphones that I have now.
