disabling the volume pot on my mini dac shows serious clipping

its funny...i didn't notice serious clipping at all when i enabled the alps volume pot. the clipping only completely disappeared after i used the foobar EQ to drop everything by 6db...
can someone explain what happened?

is your music actually clipping?

Are you using headphone out of the minidac or is this effect even audible via lineout to another amp?

that's interesting. i wonder if there is something wrong or the alps pot gets in the way of hearing the clipping which is just there. to me if a system is working right and is "fast" enough, clipping should be obvious.

why use foobar EQ to reduce volume instead of volume control?

wow, i have never noticed foobar has a volume control...just saw that, thanks lan lol.
