Hey all,

Just wondering. I know that this Sony's headphone out is weak, but just wondering if it would be able to acceptably drive the HD 497. Its the only portable source I have at present, and I dont have an amp.

I should get one soon hopefully and that should be a great help for me with this combo. But until then, do they work well as a two some??

The Sony D-EJ955 CD Walkman will drive the Sennheiser HD 497 headphones to loud levels. But because of the somewhat dark-sounding built-in headphone op-amp on all Sony CD Walkman players, the HD 497 will sound a bit thick and a bit murky directly from such outputs.
