I was just curious, but would there be a way to passively monitor the output of an amp and design circuitry which will cut off the amp if a preset level of dc offset is introduced. I realize how to use a capacitor to kill the dc offset, but that messes up the signal path.

Basically, a circuit which will only respond to DC and will trigger somethign else when that circuit says so. Anything like that been done or ideas on how to impliment that?

Seems like it'd be a very useful circuit to include to save your nice cans from evil sources or faulty amps.
