I am curious if there is any DAP which can house a 2.5" SATA SSD or nvme SSD form factor instead of the micro SD slot? Thanks so much.

Aurender Flow is the only sort of, almost, kind of, DAP (not portable, as in, desktop use only) I can think of... Although it does raise the question of why? MicroSD is far smaller and lighter, physically, easily hot-swappable and I can't think of a situation in audio where the speed gains from an SSD are of any benefit (maybe if you're constantly refreshing your entire library?). Not to mention then power draw!

Care to share why? For better suggestions

As a laugh, I did manage to connect an external HDD to a HiByOS based player (Shanling M2s) with a powered USB hub, but that's probably not what your asking for! lol

p.s. there's probably WAAAY more options for DAPs with a 2nd mSD slot if storage capacity was your main concern. But I guess you already knew that...

A 2280 4tb ssd gen 3 is 199 today.
A 2230 2tb ssd is 165.
A 1tb microsd 130. (at promo price usually higher.)

A two micros slot DAP would be 260 for 2 microsd with measly speeds.
A 4tb ssd at 199 is the better option here.
Let alone those for whom money is not an issue and they'd get the 8tb ssd.

With the size of High Res per Album going up to 5/6gb, it only makes sense to switch to SSD.

The lovely snapdragon 660 in all current DAPs should support SSDs just fine.

I personally am stuck with my now discontinued and underpowered fiio m11 dual microsd until someone releases an SSD powered DAP with 1500mw output at least.

Define "better". A portable SSD is multiples bigger than a micro SD card slot. For music listening the user does not benefit from the faster speeds of SSD.

A person in music production might benefit from faster read and write access of SSD but not a head-fi listener

If it is simply living in capitalist world and freedom to spend money, I accept donations ✌️😎

SSD and NVME drives use too much power to be put into a DAP. A phone SD Card is a lot more practical both for price/size and power consumption. Even if I use a USB stick in my phone, I can see the battery meter going down when it's in use. I think that's the reason there aren't any.
