Hello,
I am hesitating between keeping my iphone 7+buying a good DAP (Ibasso DX200 or Onkyo DP XA1) and buying the LG V30 that has become much cheaper. Can someone please comment on the quality of the quad dac of the V30+amp compared to the DAPs cited above?
The headphones I am using are the Bowers and wilkins PX and I listen mainly to classical.
Android is quite important for the DAPs as I will be using Qobuz.

Are you using the PX in wired or wireless mode? If you're using them wireless, your phone or DAP's DAC is bypassed.

Skip the V30 & go straight for the G8x..They are going for $250.00 man.refurbished.I couldn't tell the difference from new when I got mine. The audio quality is superb,as is the Bluetooth..Here's a comparison of the important features,G8x on left,V30 on right:

I have an iPhone but don't use it for audio as Apple products are not really geared towards audiophiles. I also have an LG V30+ that is solely used as a DAP. The LG V30+ delivers outstanding audio for a phone. You could just get a used V30 and enjoy the music from it, provided your headphones are not too difficult to drive. I do have a DAP, a Cayin N6ii, and that's a step up from the LG V30+ phone as I would expect it to be.

I'm an iOS fan so would only use Apple phones for phone stuff. However, for high quality sound the LG phones or a good DAP (Android-based) would provide you with good enough sound quality.

I have a V30 and an Lg G7 ...The V30 sounds really good,...but the G7 sounds better. They have the same basic components (same amp, dac) but the G7 has DTS:X. It's a sort of virtual surround sound/equaliser program that works REALLY well for headphones. The closest thing I have found to the Dolby Atmos for Headphones program which I LOVED on my ZTE Axon.
I know the V40 has it as well.
I seriously can't recommend the G7 enough as a DAP, it's the best phone I've ever had for that purpose.

I should be more specific, it's the LG G7 ThinQ. The G7 Fit doesn't have the DTS:X program.
I realize this is an old question for the OP...but for those who are asking the same general question "is the V30 a good alternative to a DAP"
I think the answer is yes it is, but the G7 and V40 are better.
