DAP Makers with Least Bugs/Fastest Fixes

I'm honing in on buying my 1st DAP and wondering which companies have the best and worst hardware / firmware / software reliability and which companies are most responsive to bugs when they're reported.

Also, any specific units to stay away from in the $200-$500 range.

Any positive or negative stories are most welcome. Any brand whose units never quit even after being being eaten by a dog that is then dropped down a well?

It’s going to help if you also suggest a price range. Typically folks can be in $100-$200, $200-$500......$500-$1000 and $1000-$3000.
