I'm looking to upgrade the weak PSU adaptor (16v AC/AC 650mA) that is supplied with my Entech DAC, its a US two pin adaptor plugged into a US-UK stepdown converter, does anyone know where I can buy a 16v AC power supply with a much higher amp rating?

I'm ok with importing one should that be required as I can't seem to find any UK suppliers that sell 16v AC/AC adaptors.

I'm not sure if it's worth just changing that because it's not the full power supply since it's only a transformer being that it's AC to AC. You could benefit more from upgrading the internals of the DAC.

I have thought about changing the DACs opamp, in the manual it mentions the use of the Burr Brown OPA2134 opamp, would swapping this out for another compatible BB opamp be worthwhile?

I 've not opened the DAC up yet to check but I assume the opamps isn't likely to be socketed, my soldering skills isn't quite up to the pro level just yet...

Well if you're considering changing the power supply, then investgate the PSU caps, rectifiers, and regulators. I'd change the caps and stuff before the opamps as the are "earlier" on.

I'm living in the UK and thinking of ordering the Entech 203.2 from the US. What voltage convertor do you use for yours and where did you buy it? Is the 60Hz an issue?

Cheers mate
