Hey guys,
I'm relatively new to the world of sound, but after some research over the last month I finally decided to go for the beyerdynamics DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm and Audio-Technica ATH-M50x. First I wanted an all-in-one solution for my needs, which are gaming and media consumption at home and on the go, so I looked at the Audeze Penrose. But after a long week of thinking I decided that I wanted a dedicated setup at home and a different pair for when I'm on the go. Since I don't mind not being wireless and don't want to compromise sound for comfort I chose the DT 990 Pro for my home and the M50x mostly for travelling AND sometimes at home.
Gaming: PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch. Mostly single player games - cinematic, indie, etc. When gaming on my TV I'm about 3-4 meters away from the TV. I intend to buy a dedicated mic for my PC some time later, since I haven't gotten around researching in this area and it's not that important to me right now. But if you could recommend a cheap mic that sounds okay with the setup you're proposing- go for it.
Media: Music - I'm listening to all sorts of music, mostly Hip Hop / Rap / Trap, Indie, Heavy Metal, some EDM. Films are being watched with my PS5.
Setup now: The old wireless Playstation Gold Headset for gaming on PC, PS5 and Switch. Logitech 5.1 system plugged into the TV via optical. Logitech 2.1 system plugged into PC via aux. Old and cheap Sony headphones for on the go.
Budget: 300$ (for AMP and DAC, Mic not included)
Location: Germany
Now for my questions:
- Can you recommend me a good DAC / Amp setup taking all of my gear I have now (minus the gold headset of course) and the gear I'm going to get into consideration. PS5 info I have found is that it only supports the UAC1 standard, not that I know what that means but it maybe helpful for you
- Can I take advantage of the Tempest 3D Audio on the PS5 with the DAC / Amp setup + DT 990 Pro?
- Can i connect all of my gear (PC, PS5, Switch) to only one DAC?
