Hi, I'm having a problem with my d-e905...yes I bought it on eBay and the seller isn't returning my emails (typical). Anyways, cosmetically the player is almost mint. The player plays fine with both the A/C adaptor and the strap-on AA battery pack. The only problem is that when I put the gumsticks in (I have more than one set to factor out the batteries as the cause) the player refuses to power up. Also, the player does not charge gumsticks. It is as if something is wrong with the internal battery contacts or some circuit relating to that. The player does not see that the batteries are there. I opened it up and could not see anything wrong while using my D-777 as a guide for what things should look like. Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions for me to try? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Only when the batteries are extremely flat, but you've ruled that out already...

I can take a macro image of the E905 if you'd like just incase its not 110% the same as the D777 (I've never opened up the E905)

... once you break it open.. don't suddenly feel the urge that you need to adjust something.

If you do, you might be able to join Team Break Old PCDP, though..

I have similar problems with my EJ-915. My gum sticks refuse to recharge if I don't use them on a continuous basis. I left my pcdp on the shelf for like six months and the gum sticks would not recharge so easily. Sometimes the pcdp refuses to recharge them. Other times, it would recharge them for like an entire day, but the batteries were still dead at the end of the recharge cycle. Eventually, I finally got my gum sticks to work, but I think i reduced their charge capacity quite a bit.

Have you tried using the gum sticks on another pcdp? The gum sticks can be defective.

It is definately not the gumsticks, I've ruled that out by trying them on another player. It is something wrong with the D-E905 I'm sad to say, I just wish I knew what and how to fix it. Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the replies thusfar.

Just a thought...

the battery contacts inside the player... are they oxidised at all? my D777 external battery pack went like that... a cotton swab, with some alcohol based cleaner... and the problem went away INSTANTLY...

Worth a try if ALL batterys fail
