Creek Destiny vs. Arcam FMJ CD36 ???

I heard Destiny vs Saturn. I demoed both before I bought the Saturn. Saturn beats Destiny in all cited areas.

Only heard CD36 briefly, less than half an hour on an unfamiliar system, so no comment on that one.

Yes, they've reviewed both players but unfortunately make no reference or comparisons between...

I wouldn't bet against the Creek, but if it was up to me, I agree w/ Chesebert: I'd give an edge to Saturn, especially if you value the natural decay in the notes. Another kick-ass CDP I heard was Primare 31. I never heard it w/ headphones, but matched with Primare I30 integrated, it pumped out muscular & dynamic sounds through the Proac 152 speakers. It was really one of the best things I've heard in its price range... but the sound may be the result of the synergy between all the components. Nevertheless, that set-up sounded better than any Saturn or Creek or Cambridge Audio combos, and ALMOST as good as the Leben -Accuphase combo. Slam & attack? Yes, please.

For what it's worth, I think the Arcam FMJ CD36 competes at a level far above its price range. That's specifically what I was looking for - a player that could hang with the big boys, including the dCS Paganini system, and also had that special magic that works for my sonic preferences.

It has PRAT and an entirely naturalistic sound in my system... your mileage may vary. I strongly encourage you to audition the players that you're interested in.

I currently own a heavily modified Arcam FMJ CD23 and while I can easily live with it's sonic fingerprint I'd like something with slightly greater ooomph
