The 686b had a serious pci flaw. The reason why it only seemed to manifest on Sb Live was because Live really needed bandwidth from the pci bus for its dsp, compared to soundcards that didn't have a dsp at that time. Everything that needed bandwidth caused corruption including editing systems.

That's not my recall - the alternative take is to say the SB Live was at fault for not giving up the bus to other devices. The flaw was to use an SB Live on a 686B.

I consider myself a Via basher, but no other soundcards caused this problem.

Via isn't nearly as bad as they used to be. I've had very few problems with my Via chipset mainboard.

Creative doesn't suck... they just have a better marketing department as compared to their technical department. Get it?
