I went to the Creative showroom today.... the X-Fi Zen was plugged into Creative Aurvana Live! headphones.... the music was @ 128-160kbps bitrate..

The Player just lacked the Bass... Percussions & Cymbals were very apparent.

The player looks shiny, has metallic finish..has soft metal brushed buttons..

the Interface is non-intuitive ...

It has Tons of features btw ... Radio, Sound recorder, Videos, Wi-Fi,.....

Didnt get much time to checkout other tracks but i didnt find anything great about it other than the surprisinly low price..i thought they would sell it damn expensive due to hyped up X-Fi technology... neither was the released hyped up which shows that they dont expect people to buy it?

what i liked is that they do have a 32 GB model but its out of stock.. iPodtouch is 16 GB at max rite?

^^ Hmm, yeah if the only change to SQ is post-processing effects that drain battery and artificialise (a word that I invented) the sound then I agree wholeheartedly.

I wouldn't be so quick to diss the player - I have in my hands the 32GB player right now

It looks nice, but the glossy front surface is a veritable finger print magnet. The interface is attractive and I found it intuitive to use. Sound quality is very good, but then, I usually have no beef with Creative's SQ. The X-Fi effects seemed to work well. It's effects were subtle and not too in your face. It enhances details, adds depth and improves the bass. As with most digital effects, it works well with some music, and not so good in others. On well recorded music, it generally sounded good.

I would recommend only using the X-Fi "Crystalizer" and setting it to the lowest setting. The X-Fi 3D "Spacializer" just sounded weird to my ears.

I didn't have time to muck around with the purported WiFi capability - no WiFi in the office, but the good points:

1. Attractive and intuitive interface - ability to change "themes" and wallpapers allow some modicum of personalisation.
2. Gorgeous screen - movie playback was very smooth, colours were rich and vibrant.
3. Very good SQ, X-Fi effects helps to improve music playback (most of the time).
4. Expandable memory via SDHC SD cards.

The bad points (thus far)
1. No proper library integration with the external SD memory (Still!)
2. Glossy surface attracts finger prints like crazy.

No doubt more quirks will surface over time. Thus far, I am enjoying the music from the Zen X-Fi
