I wouldn't be so quick to diss the player - I have in my hands the 32GB player right now
It looks nice, but the glossy front surface is a veritable finger print magnet. The interface is attractive and I found it intuitive to use. Sound quality is very good, but then, I usually have no beef with Creative's SQ. The X-Fi effects seemed to work well. It's effects were subtle and not too in your face. It enhances details, adds depth and improves the bass. As with most digital effects, it works well with some music, and not so good in others. On well recorded music, it generally sounded good.
I would recommend only using the X-Fi "Crystalizer" and setting it to the lowest setting. The X-Fi 3D "Spacializer" just sounded weird to my ears.
I didn't have time to muck around with the purported WiFi capability - no WiFi in the office, but the good points:
1. Attractive and intuitive interface - ability to change "themes" and wallpapers allow some modicum of personalisation.
2. Gorgeous screen - movie playback was very smooth, colours were rich and vibrant.
3. Very good SQ, X-Fi effects helps to improve music playback (most of the time).
4. Expandable memory via SDHC SD cards.
The bad points (thus far)
1. No proper library integration with the external SD memory (Still!)
2. Glossy surface attracts finger prints like crazy.
No doubt more quirks will surface over time. Thus far, I am enjoying the music from the Zen X-Fi
