OK, so after changing my mind about fifteen times, I decided to buy a 16GB Cowon D2. I have heard, however, that the A2 has better sound quality than the D2. This is a bit of a bummer, considering I could get an A2 with nearly twice the capacity as the D2 for about the same amount of money (~$200 US).

I chose the D2 because I have heard numerous rave reviews about it, making it basically the #1 player on my list. It almost seems to be the standard around here for high quality portable audio. However, I've also heard great things about the A2, and now am having some (if only minor) second thoughts. I know I'll love my D2, but would I love the A2 more?

So, has anybody here had experience comparing both of these players? Did I make the right choice?

If you vote in the poll, please keep your choices to players $250 US or below.

It's all about the audio!

Very few have been able to compare both side-by-side.

IMO, the A2 is still ahead of the D2 in terms of pure sonic performance, as is the all round better PMP, save for its memory storage format (HDD).

I "CHOSE" the D2 cause video isn't as much of a priority to me. Also, a bit big to walk through the streets of NYC with a brick in me pocket. Great player - just not a player for ME!!!

I have the D2 and chose it overf the A2. Although I don't use EQ, it's nice to know that the D2 can be tweaked as needed. Great SQ with the right IEMs/earbuds/cans and the headphone out imitates a lineout very well. The A2 is nice, expecially if used for video, but since music is my primary concern the D2 was a better choice for me.

Yeah i have an 8gb D2, love it becuase its a great performer without needing to add anything.

Im getting an imod for a 5.5g ipod, but im gunna have to use an amp with it to get the performance i will pay for.

Nonetheless, i certainly will be using my D2 when i dont wanna lug around too much stuff, It sounds splendid to me, plus is supports a wide variety of lossless formats.

I got the D2 almost entirely because of the SD slot...ordered a 32GB SDHC yesterday[hopefully I've aided in it now being out of stock].

A bit of a bonus too, is with themes and flash skins it can look amazing. Here is what I have on mine:

Sweet start-up logo too, to make it look like it swirls into exsistance...shame there are not a lot more.

I don't like to say it, but my D2 w/V0 mp3s and ESW9s[straight out of it], sounds almost as good as my 650s playing FLAC[ASIO], Micro Amp'd/DAC'd.

I have an A3 and a D2. I found the A3 (same size as the A2 I believe) to be too large and heavy for carrying in my pocket conveniently. I use the A3 at home mostly for video, and the D2 for on the go for audio. Yes, I think the sound quality is slightly better on the A3.
