Classical vs. Contemporary

There's good music and then there's bad music- I guess the good ones would stand the test of time. I was watching Run Lola Run the other night and while most of the music is techno, there's a part when they switch to Charles Ives' Unanswered Question, which doesn't seem out of place (especially in the context of that movie). Even classical music goes through different phase in this day and age and of course there's the dreaded Three Tenor movement (which IMHo is down there with Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears) but I remember when Gorecki and Arvo Part was at the top of Classical music chart.
I think music like life can be cyclical- it's all about re-cycling the same old material (in many different guises). Electronic music while not new, is the bravest of all different genre of music. Although the genre itself can't get away from mediocrity (so as to appeal to the masses and sells millions of CD), it's more experimental and to me it is contemporary and bound to evolve.
