I recently bought a Mercedes C class from 2010 which has a AUX input for the radio at the glove box. This input gives a very low volume though (I tried several phone brands) and cranking up the volume isn't an option since the navigation voice will blow my head off with such volumes.
I was thinking about buying a simple portable battery or USB powered headphone amp with AUX in and output. Do you guys think this will solve the problem and do you have any suggestions on what amplifier to buy? It doesn't need to be of high quality (it is car audio anyway ..) and needs to ship to the Netherlands.

An amp may help - it depends on how the car input is wired. If it is truly just a line-input to the car audio amp, then it should work, but if it limits the voltage of the input signal, then it might not. I suspect it will work - but I'm not sure.

You may very well need a portable amp. There are plenty of portable amps here under Head Gear or just google “portable headphone amp”. You'll find lots of options. My personal opinion is to check out FiiO, Cmoy, or Sound Shocker.
