Looks like we will not have the pleasure to read any listennig report about the NEW …. 18.000 $ (!!!) Brise Audio FUGAKU. :slight_frown:

I guess this is how they are trying to save Japan's economy.

I don't think any IEM is worth $18,000. Just my opinion. I can't see how this is worth more than and sounds better than a a dedicated desktop system costing the same. Or better than the top portable Astell and kern system.

I think they are charging that because they can. And because a select few want to walk around with 18k titanium ear buds.

I mean....why? I could understand the prices of some TOTL gear, even though no one can prove anything unless the companies are super transparent on what costs what and what kind of profit margins they determine. I mean yes there are a lot of costs like R&D, distribution, labor, material, technology, marketing, rent, electricity, machinery but for one pair of IEMs and a cable what could make this cost that much, I can't fathom.
Before criticizing the price, please access the product page and get some information on how this system was conceived. It is completely different from ANY portable system with basically 1 individual amplifier per driver(!!!). I understand that it's extremely expensive, but it's an example of costs no object project. Its not about "oh with this price I can buy this and that together and still have money for my mortgage". It's about how much are you willing to spend to get the last r&d for portable music. If you can't afford it's ok too. It's just interesting to read that people start to criticize the price without even getting info on what that is. And some of this people have $15k worth of TOTL IEM + cable + amplifier and are complaining about the price...

How’s your mad24 compared to the jewel? Does it have the same amount of bass or more?

This has no end. That’s what I’m basically saying. Of course everyone is free to charge whatever they want for whatever they think is worthy and I sure am free to present my own thoughts and yes I am free to criticize and for me I even need not look at the product page because I only spend so much for gear and as I’ve already mentioned in this thread: My priorities are way off this price range, maybe that's why I don't get it.

The MAD24 was a big surprise and became my favorite IEM over the last few months. I used to think that the Jewel had great bass but after getting used to the MAD tunning I find the Jewel a bit bright now.

MAD is like a very good Studio Monitor with a balanced, neutral to warm signature. It has significantly more bass and impact / attack than Jewel. To be honest it's the best bass I heard from an IEM. It's goes deep but at the same time it's very controlled, with zero boominess or distortion. It presents bass at the very right proportion - it's exactly what I look for in low frequency.

Jewel have a tad more resolution and high frequencies pop up more. But MAD excels in hi freq too, just more in the natural side.

I'm sorry if I replied to your specific comment but that was a reaction after reading several comments that sounds like misinformation and almost this automatic impulse to criticize price.

My intention is not to justify the $18k cost and I am not supporting increasing prices. But after reading the specs and interviews on this product, it really seems that Brise is genuinely pushing the envelope on innovation here and offering something unique. I think that's what matters the most.

Nobody looks at a German sports car with 700hp and say "this is too expensive for a car: with this price I can buy 8 Toyota Corollas..." I think the same applies here: people are saying that $18k is too much for an IEM. This is not an IEM. It has a crazy designed amplifier with dozens of internal amplifiers one for each driver of the IEM, all turned in specifically for this IEM and on top a high quality cable with synergize with the rest of the system. I never tried the product but from a conceptual perspective I appreciate the innovation and hope that in the future this tech will benefit other products on the entry level.

And yes, you have all the right to express your concerns and questions about price. I am just expressing my curiosity about people in general criticizing price before getting informed. Nothing against you :)
