Hello fellow head-fiers,
I currently have the Denon AH-D1001 and Ultrasone HFI-780, but they are both closed headphones. I'm now looking for open headphones that are under $300. I would really like to have a wide soundstage so I am leaning towards the AKG K702/Q701. I am also considering the Beyerdynamic dt990 250 ohm but they are a bit above my price range. I had previously bought the Meier-Audio Corda Headsix portable amplifier (essentially the same as the XXS) for my Ultrasones but found that it didn't make much of a difference in sound when playing tough my ipod. So, is the Headsix is capable of driving the K702/Q701 or the dt990s? And which headphone would be the better match? Here are the specs of the headsix:
Technical details:
Weight without battery: 100 gr.
Measures: 9.3 x 4.7 x 2.2 cm
Supply voltage: 6 .. (9) .. 12 Volts DC
Mean current uptake: 7 mA
Maximal amplification (1 kHz): 4 / 17 dB (low/high gain)
Input impedance: 13 kOhm
Output impedance: < 1 Ohm
