I am setting up my POP3 mail account on my Motorola Q9h running Windows Mobile 6. I can receive email and surf fine but I can't send any email.

The error message I got is along the line of "Relaying denied. IP names lookup failed".

Since I can receive and send email with no problem from my PC, could it still be RDNS issue with my ISP? If not, what is the likely cause?

Thanks.

Turn on outgoing Authentication you are getting bumped by the radius because you are outside your ISP's network. Turn on outgoing auth to send username/password to the mailserver when you send mail so the server knows you are a customer and not a spammer.

Outgoing authentication is turned on, everything including username and password are identical to my desktop settings as far as I know.

Edit: Btw I can send and receive my Gmail (IMAP4) account.

Turn it off then turn it back on. Also dont type in your username/password let it just use the same creds as your incoming mail server. Relaying denied is like 99.9% outgoing auth. If your using any form of Outlook it sometimes has "issues" with outgoing auth.

Did that a few times, no luck yet.

Btw it doesn't seem to matter what username or password I typed in, or even whether I turn on the authentication or not, it doesn't seem to reach that step yet.

Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed

you win Rdns is failing

"quoted from http://www.chicagotech.net/E-mail.htm

550 5.7.1 relaying denied - ip name lookup failed

Symptoms: when sending a mail to blin@mvps.org, you may receive undeliverable message like this:
<mail.chicagotech.net> #5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1 <blin@mvps.org>... Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed (x.x.x.x).

Possible Causes:
1. DNS lookup failed
2. The sender of the message does not have the privileges required to complete delivery.
3. You are trying to relay your mail through another SMTP server and it does not permit you to relay.
4. The recipient might have mailbox delivery restrictions enabled.
5. Make sure you mail server is no on a spam list.
6. If there are a lot errors and warning such as ID 104, 215 related to spam and virus in the Application Event Viewer
of the Exchange server, you may need to restart the Exchange services."

Thanks Dan. Problem solved.

I made a call to my ISP and I was asked to use a different SMTP server, the SMTP server that I was logging in from home wouldn't work when I am using my mobile connection.
