If yes, Kindly help me to get them in to my Ipod. How can I do that? I have been using mp3's till now. But read somewhere that lossless/high-definition music is totally a different experience.

Cheers..

What is your definition of "high definition?" Does your iPod do better than 16 bit depth or 44.1 kHz sampling? I am curious since I have attempt to load higher depth and higher sampling rates and get error notes from iTunes, maybe its iTunes. What are you using to load the files?

Thanks

To me "high-definition audio" is audio data above 16 bit/44.1kHz, example 24 bit/48kHz. 16 bit/44.1kHz (PCM) is not high-definition imo.
I have loaded 24 bit/48kHz files, through iTunes, to my iPod. These are played back just fine.

Edit:
24bit/48kHz files transfer and play fine, but 24bit/96KHz files fails.

You find some 24bit/96KHz sample files from HDTT here (encoded to FLAC):

The ones that I tried were the 96k ones so I will look into loading some 24 bit depth 48 khz files.

Thanks

But how shoul I loa flac files to my ipod? Will itunes do it?

The only way is to Rockbox it. Otherwise your lossless option is Apple Lossless. I use the Apple Lossless format for my iMod.

You're welcome!
I just used Max to transcode from FLAC to Apple Lossless. Then imported to the iTunes library.
Another option is to decode the FLAC files to WAV, then import to Apple Lossless in iTunes.

Yes, for some reason 24bit files are supported in 48kHz but not 96kHz.

Rockbox is an alternative firmware (software) for iPod's. My advice is that you stay clear if you don't knwo what you are doing.

Apple Lossless is Apple's own (proprietary) lossless audio format. Much like FLAC, WavPack, etc.
Its supported by iTunes, QuickTime Player, iPods, AirPort Express, and more.

how to enable apple lossless encoding when I am loading files to Itunes and then to Ipod? do i have to enable something in itunes? or will itune automatically take care of it. I think they convert all files to AAC format?

Yes, you switch the import format in iTunes.
iTunes -> Preferences... -> Advanced -> Importing. Change "Import Using:" to 'Apple Lossless Encoder'
