Can I use a headphone amp as a Guitar preamp?

It might work, but I doubt a guitar's output is the same as a stereo components line out and I doubt the cmoy's headphone in jack put out the same signal as a true guitar pre-amp...but then again, you can vary that with the volume control. Also, home amps and especially home speakers are not robust enough to handle an electric guitar at anything but a very, very, very low volume. You can very easily blow your speakers.

Try it out if you'd like, but keep the guitar, cmoy, and amp volumes way down.

If you want to use your guitar through your home speakered set-up, I recommend you use a processor like a Line 6 POD or something similar. These often have audio outputs and h/p outputs that you can select and the levels are perfect for your purposes. If you are going from your h/p outputs, you should follow the rule of pcdps without lineout when hooking up to your Cmoy. That is, keep the volume around 3-5 on the processor/pcdp and use your cmoy to amp the signal.

A guitar processor generally has a lot of extra features and effects also, so you can have a very streamlined thing.
