i've someone trying to sell a cmoy with dual opa 627 and a 2228 buffer .... i'm kinda intrigued by how it'd sound but i kinda wondering if a single 9V battery would be able to run this amp properly

whats a good amount of volts to run this particular amp?

12-18v will do it, IMO 9V is not enough to make OPA627 stable. you could use tangemnts site to upgrade the power to 18v though; just involves another battery in series, a couple caps and tangents virtual ground and you'll be sweet

no problem, actually the OPA627 might be a squeeze, might just make it, the OPA637 is def a no go though IMO. I think both will work for a short amount of time when the battery is fresh, but prob wont last too long.
