By replacing the ear pads and headbands. Don't know the hygiene of the prior owner.

That said, I've never bought used headphones, but if I did, yeah.... replace them.

i mean you could wash them properly at 30-60 degree but i asked the same question to myself and specially regarding the condition of the earpads i would rather replace them completely if they are older than a year or so

but some dekoni headphone spray or wipes, each can't be used on certain materials so look at the website first.

The best way is get a delicates bag and use scent free detergent in the gentle cycle to mashine wash most pads. I dry with a dehumidifier, but a fan is good too. Unscented fabreeze for cloth is good sometimes.
Just have to make sure no bleach load has been run recently or it ruins the color.

I just wipe em down. I never had a pair that smelled bad or anything. I’ve bought and sold about 40 pairs of headphones and never had any problems.
Jup, this is whatve done with all my second hand purchases. But i just bought headphones that looked in decent condition from decent sellers. If they would be obviously filthy im definitely replacing them
