Hi people

I am going to buy the UNIQUE MELODY Mest MK iii soon. I just wanted to know if anyone has heard them or any other iem in that price range ( 3199 Australian dollar = approx usd 2097 ). Based on my research they seem to be the best for my "preferences" in this price range especially the holographic soundstage.

FYI I do not like bright extremely detailed thin sounding iems. I prefer holographic soundstage and a balanced signature slightly leaning towards a warm full sounding sound.

But I would still like opinions on whether there's anything better in the same price range I should buy or look into. I have a couple of weeks before I have to make a decision as my family will be flying down from australia.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

(please my considerations with a cup of salt, I'm relatively new to the hobby and only 17y)

Try look at other Unique Melody iems, they have many more options that may fit your preferences better than the mest MK III.

(1600 usd) Maybe consider Elysian Diva, it's slightly cheaper than the mest MK III. I recently had a try. It doesn't really have holographic sound stage, but I think it's more than wide enough. It's overall tuning is leaning on warm with absolutely gorgeous bass rumble with the bass set to high, however it lacks bass impact. Another thing are the high-mids, they are so smooth, if you listen to any type of female vocal music.

(1500 usd) There's also Fearless Dawn iem, a very well balanced iem in the price range. Just does everything great, excellent in nothing.

If you're willing to spend much more. (5000 usd) which I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND. you could consider the Aroma audio Jewel or QDC emperor. Whatever you do, you MUST TRY IT AT LEAST 50 HOURS BEFORE Purchasing. However, when I had the chance to demo it, I got so addicted I stayed till the shop closed. I ended up only trying the Jewel and Qdc emperor for the entire 7 hours I was there. PLEASE DO A LOT OF RESEARCH.

I'm gonna try the FlipEars AURORA today and will report, through it sounds like the newer version of the Solaris, the "Stellar Horizon" is another try for you. It's from Campfire Audio and I LOVED their new Andromeda 'Emerald Sea' so warm. Also, I had the UM Multiverse Mentor for several weeks and it was really interesting: warm with layers and layers, but i thought it was doing its magic too much and was messing with the sound of some timbre, but I'm a pianist and am obSessED with that for pianos. Most people would rather have the magic rather than the dry, chemical spray. Like my hifiman he1000s overhead.

Yea I can understand the need for as close to life like sound as possible especially if you are a musician of any kind. I personally prefer the magic. I was thinking about the mm mv but then I thought that kind of money is crossing the are you out of your mind line especially since I'm not a musician or sound engineer etc.

Speaking about dac/amp to pair with the mest mk iii or whatever I decide to buy. I have decided to go with a reasonably priced portable dac amp
Because I had the chord mojo 2 and I a/b the mojo 2 with one of my extra cheap xiaomi phones that had a 3.5mm jack with a sennheiser 560s. Literally no difference expect volume. Once volume matched no difference at all and i tried for some time to find any difference to justify the purchase. I wonder what those 1k 2k 5k 10k dacs are doing to convince people to buy them. Maybe my ears can't hear the difference.
The many people on this forum who say there is no difference or slight difference and different doesn't mean "better" were right.

Thanks for taking the time out to reply. Appreciate it. Cheers

I hear you. the difference between my $400 and $2000 DAP is minimal but I can hear it. "Law of Diminishing returns.' Sam with my cello bow. LOTS of difference between a $400 and $5000 bow, but you'd have to be a pro clocking thousands of hours to hear it and the difference is felt more than heard. ironically, an audience member would not hear it so much unless you guided them toward the differences. But you can bet the more expensive tool for the job is gonna make that difference.
