Buying an iPhone 3GS from HK instead of the UK?

Is everyone SURE that iPhones have the same specs worldwide? I was under the impression that there since are different radio bands used in the US as opposed to Europe and Asia there would be different radios in each of the iPhones from those countries.

US AT&T 3G is 850/1900
US T-Mo 3G is 1700/2100
Euro 3G is 900/2100
Asian 3G is... also 900/2100

Just watch out for the difference between US and Euro bands. I can't remember if there's a different model.

hey there,

the iphone is a tri-band cell phone, therefore covers GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) techspecs.

However, it seems that Apple grants warranty only within the country of origin.
So f.e. if you live in Germany, as i do, and bought an unlocked iPhone from lets say Italy or Belgium, in case of damage you will need to turn it in in Italy or Belgium. Stupid, isn't it? But I don't know, how this applies to other countries.
