Hi everyone,

I tried out the Beyer DT 770's and although they were ridiculously comfortable, I can't justify spending the money for them right now.

I'm back in the market for headphones but my budget is really low ($100 max).  I'm looking for headphones that I can use velour pads with.  I will be listening to soft rock, alternative.  Please list any suggestions and any personal experiences would be great. Thanks so much for reading :)

What sources are you plugging the headphones into?

Samson SR-950, closed headphones with Velour ear pads, $70.

Thanks for the quick responses!  They will be plugged directly into my laptop for now.  I have the A2 system that I will be using it with in the near future.

I will check out these suggestions; any more? :)

Not velour pads, but two choices of pads come with the NVX Audio XPT100. That would give you some choice on comfort. The NVXs are apparently the same cup/driver as the Brainwavz HM5, Fischer FA-003, and the Jaycars (manufactured by one company but rebranded for those vendors). The NVX's differ in that they have a flexible headband. Plenty of discussion on the forums for the various releases of those, so you could find out what kind of comfort they have.

Anyone know how the sound of the SR950's compare w/ the Sony 7506?  The price difference would be about $30 more for the Sony's w/ the velour pads. Thanks!

The Samson SR950 have not been out that long, but I would assume they are based on the Superlux HD669.

I'm still on the fence between the 7506 and the SR950's -  I stumbled upon a few more headphones.  Any thoughts/experience regarding the Sennheiser HD419, HD438 or HD439?

Hd 439 would be great choice wih their lovely sound that is neural and fairly detailed, with quality, extended, bass tha isn't very heavy ( quite light actually), quantity wise, and lush nice mids, with nice extended, not fatigueing, highs, and over all I prefer them to he v6's when stock

Edit:  I am now trying to decide between the HD 439 or the Sony 7506.  For the type of music I will be focusing on - acoustic, vocal and guitars, soft rock, alternative; barely any hip hop or rap - which of the two would be better suited for me? Thanks!
